We will witness the eruptions of Stromboli, which colors the sky of the Aeolian evenings with its incessant activity. And again, we will walk the most beautiful paths of Lipari, we will reach the summit of Salina and we will make a jump to Alicudi and Filicudi.

The Trekking tour to the Aeolian Islands 2023, is an offer for small groups and includes excursions and walks in nature, away from the most crowded places.

The trekking will take place in the company of experienced guides, able to make you appreciate every moment of the excursions on the paths of our islands.

Full Itinerary

Day 1Arrival in Lipari

Transfer from Catania Fontanarossa to Milazzo porto. Hydrofoil to Lipari. Arrival at the hotel. Accommodation in the rooms. Welcome cocktail. Dinner and overnight.

Day 2Trekking on the island of Lipari

The trekking of the Aeolian Islands begins with an excursion in the southern part of Lipari. After breakfast, appointment with the guide at the hotel. Transfer by private bus. The excursion starts from Lipari center, goes up the side of the mountain “Gallina” until you get on the south-western coast of the island. From here beautiful views open onto the cliff, and a little further on the “Faraglioni di Lipari”. Continuing in the thick bush you reach the area known as “the Observatory” for the presence of the geophysical observatory of the INGV. Free lunch. Return to the coast and proceed towards the village of Lipari. Walk through the most characteristic alleys of the center between curiosities, myths and legends of the island to conclude with a tasting of Sicilian granite. Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 3Trekking on the island of Salina

The second day of trekking in the Aeolian Islands takes us to Salina. By boat you reach Santa Marina Salina and from here continue by bus to the beginning of the path. The route starts from the small village of Valdichiesa. A paved road leads to the sanctuary of Madonna del Terzito. Behind the sanctuary begins an old mule track that leads to Monte Fossa delle Felci, which with its 962 meters is the highest peak of the archipelago. Along the path you can observe different botanical species typical of the Mediterranean, chestnut woods and fern expanses. Free lunch. Return to Lipari in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

Day 4Trekking on the island of Vulcano

After breakfast we will transfer by boat to Vulcano, to continue our trekking of the Aeolian archipelago. Once at the port, continue in the company of the guide in the direction of Vulcanello. The excursion allows you to see closely various environments of the island. As soon as we left, in fact, we come across the port fumaroles, mud and “warm waters” evident manifestations of volcanic activity that characterizes the island. You then arrive at Vulcanello, the last part of the territory to have emerged from the sea, where you can reach the summit of the homonymous crater and admire a panorama that extends from the “Gran Cratere” to the rest of the archipelago. Going down the same path you continue to the black volcanic sand beach where you can stop for a swim. Free lunch. Return to Lipari in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

Walking time: about 3 hours – Length: 7 km – Difficulty: easy

N.B: the excursion on the island of Vulcano is not allowed at the moment, so it will undergo changes according to current regulations, if you can not make what is indicated in the program will be inserted an alternative excursion.

Day 5Trekking on the island of Filicudi

breakfast. Transfer from the hotel to the port of Lipari. Departure by hydrofoil to the island of Filicudi. Once at the port we start our excursion along the old mule tracks that run along the island for miles. We will reach the Church of Santo Stefano through rural landscapes characterized by numerous terraces, testimony of the agricultural history of the island. After a stop we start the descent on the opposite side until we reach the small village of Pecorini Mare for a lunch break overlooking the sea. After the stop a suggestive mule track will allow us to reach the Bronze Age village of “Filo Braccio” and from here the port. Return to Lipari in the afternoon. Dinner and overnight.

Walking time: 4/5 hours – Altitude difference: 300 m – Length: 8/9 km

Day 6Excursion to Panarea and Stromboli

breakfast. Late morning meeting with the guide and departure by boat to Panarea and Stromboli. You first reach the island of Panarea, where there will be some free time to visit the small and quaint village. Packed lunch. In the early afternoon we leave for Stromboli. Once on the island, the guide will accompany the group along a path (medium difficulty) that has as its final goal the “Sciara del Fuoco”. Immersed in the silence of nature, you will have time to admire the activity of the volcano up close. Return to the village and departure by boat to Lipari in the evening. Free dinner. Overnight.

N.B: the excursion to Stromboli will vary according to current regulations

Day 7Tour of Lipari with e-bike

breakfast. Transfer from the hotel to e-bike rental and collection. Departure by bike to the stage of the day that will lead us to the discovery of Lipari. We will head for Canneto and then reach the towns of Porticello and Acquacalda, then cut for Caolino. From here we will arrive in Varesana. We will then reach Pianoconte and here we will make a stop to visit a pasta factory where the various ancient grains planted on the island will be explained with the demonstration of milling to conclude with a lunch based on typical products of the Aeolian peasant tradition. After lunch continue on the saddle and reach the viewpoint of Quattrocchi and finally Lipari (possibility to reach the area called Observatory – A/R 8 km, disl +260m).

Return to the hotel. Dinner and overnight.

Day 8Departure

breakfast. Check-out. Transfer from the hotel to the port. Transfer by hydrofoil to Milazzo port and continue to Catania Fontanarossa. End of Trekking to the Aeolian Islands and our services.
